In March 2013 Alexandra Park School was privileged to be selected as a National Teaching School by the Department for Education. This was in recognition of our outstanding results and strong track record of training our staff. The name given to our alliance of schools is the New River Teaching Alliance.
Teaching schools give outstanding schools a leading role in the training and professional development of teachers, support staff and headteachers, as well as contributing to the raising of standards through school-to-school support.
Teaching Schools form alliances with other schools and higher education institutions to ensure a collegiate approach to school improvement. Some of the alliance schools are strategic partners who play important roles in fulfilling key priorities set by the Department for Education. Our key strategic partners are: Woodside High School, Fortismere, Haringey School Improvement Team and the Institute of Education.
